Freshman Sydney McLaren turned in a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs to help lead a balanced offensive attach on Thursday night as the Buena Vista volleyball team went into Snyder Arena to record a 3-0 sweep of Nebraska Wesleyan to begin American Rivers Conference play.

McLaren recorded her second straight double-double and fourth in her last five matches.  She finished with four errors on 37 total swings and posted a .189 percentage.  Senior Brooke Runneberg was next at six kills while Kylie Roe chipped in with five.  Mackenzie Gropel distributed the ball well yet again, turning in 26 assists.

BVU came out and posted a match-high 12 kills and just four errors in the opening set en route to a convincing 25-15 win.  It then came on strong late in the second to post a 25-18 triumph before ralling from an early 11-8 deficit in the third to claim a 25-20 victory to finish things off.

Serena Sandvig had a big night at the net, defensively, chalking up five total blocks as BVU turned in 10 for the match.  Summer Goss posted a team-leading 16 digs as Roe followed with 15.

Buena Vista has now won five straight conference matches dating back to last season.  It's victory over the Prairie Wolves is its seventh straight win this season as the Beavers are now 8-3.  The team now has some time off before returning to the court next Tuesday night by continuing American Rivers Conference play at Central College (3-5, 0-1 A-R-C).  The Dutch were swept in their conference opener on Tuesday night at Simpson and travel to the Ripon Tournament over the weekend.
