The Buena Vista women's tennis team made the trip to Dubuque on Saturday and stepped back into Iowa Conference play with matches against both the University of Dubuque and Loras College, respectively.
Katrina Chaiyawong was the team's lone winner in the opener against the Spartans, when she picked up a thrilling third-set tiebreaking victory at #6 singles. After dropping the first set, 6-4, she came all the way back with a 6-0 win to even the match before winning the tiebreaker, 10-4. Emily Hoesing fell just short in her #5 match. She dropped the first set, 6-0, came evened the match with a convincing 6-1 triumph. The comeback fell short in the third as she was edged, 10-6.
The Duhawks handed BVU a 9-0 loss in the final match of the day. Emma Hartz nearly picked up a win in #4 singles, but fell in three sets after winning the first set, 6-1.
Buena Vista is now 0-5 overall (0-3 IIAC) and returns to action on Wednesday afternoon when it hosts Grand View University at 3:00pm.
