The Buena Vista women's soccer team faced a tough test on Wednesday evening inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium, and the Beavers hung tough throughout before visiting Loras College pulled away late for a 6-1 victory.
The Duhawks wasted little time breaking the scoreless match, needing just 10 seconds to take the early 1-0 lead. They later added a goal during the 17th minute to make it a 2-0 halftime lead. That lead would double 15 minuntes into the second half before BVU got on the board when Holly Coogler knocked home a penalty kick for her second goal of the year. It was also the team's first goal on the home turf this season.
Loras then added a pair of late insurance goals, including a penalty kick of its own, over the span of about a minute late in the contest for the final margin.
BVU was held to just the one shot-on goal in the contest while the Duhawks (9-2, 3-0 A-R-C) recorded 20.
Katie Voortmann got the start in-goal and went the distance, tallying 14 saves in the process.
Buena Vista falls to 1-8 overall (0-2 A-R-C) and now travels to Simpson College on Friday, October 5, for a 4:00 p.m. contest against the Storm.
