Dordt College jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead before adding on three insurance goals in the second half to hand the Buena Vista women's soccer team its second straight home loss to begin the year on Wednesday afternoon inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium.
The final shot totals were nearly even but the Defenders made the most of their attempts with five of their 12 resulting in goals compared to four shots on-goal for BVU without finding the back of the net.
Kenzie Bousema recorded the hat trick for Dordt by scoring three of the five goals. The first came at the 15:20 mark when her shot from 25 yards out went off the hands of a diving Katie Voortman and then shot up in the air and over her while bouncing once into the goal.
Bousema then scored twice in the span of about two minutes early in the second half to make it a 4-0 contest.
Ella Wiebusch turned in a team-leading three shots for Buena Vista, including one on-goal.
Voortman played the entire first half before handing things over to Samantha Hawkins who made her collegiate debut.
The Beavers drop to 0-2 on the year and will now travel to Martin Luther College on Saturday, September 8, for a 1:00pm match against the Knights.
