About Northwestern - The Red Raiders are wrestling their first dual of the season on Tuesday after taking part in three open tournaments to start the year. D'rell Gist was the top finisher for the team this past Saturday at the Nebraska-Kearney Open with a sixth-place finish in the elite bracket at 197 pounds. It was the first time the program had a place finisher in the elite division at the UNK Open. Heading into that event, Darian Murphy and Dylan Costello had picked up four wins each to help lead the way. Gist now has a team-high six victories.
About Buena Vista - The Beavers look to make it two straight dual meet victories after notching the first triumph of the Mark Rial era last Friday night (November 16) with a 31-13 road win at Saint John's University (Minn.). BVU picked up bonus wins during five of its seven victories in that dual. Senior Dylan Huntoon continued his hot start to the year by posting a 9-1 major decision. He is now a team-best 5-1 on the year. Fellow seniors Shane Vaughan and Brad Kerkhoff are close behind with four wins apiece. Huntoon and Vaughan each took runner-up accolades during the Dakota Wesleyan Open on November 10.
Up Next: Northwestern will travel to Sioux City, Iowa, on November 29, to take on Briar Cliff in the Great Plains Athletic Conference opener while the Beavers host the annual BVU Open on December 1 starting at 9:00 a.m. inside of the Lamberti Recreation Center on the BVU campus.
