The Buena Vista wrestling team was back in action on Friday night for the first time in nearly a month, but the Beavers were shorthanded against fifth-ranked Loras College on the road and fell to the Duhawks, 46-6.
BVU was open in three weight classes which allowed Loras to break things open. The Duhawks opened a 21-0 lead before junior Brad Kerkhoff stopped the skid by picking up a second period fall for his third pin of the year. He remains a perfect 4-0 in dual matches this season, including a 2-0 mark in IIAC action.
The Beavers were then open at 165 and 174 pounds, respectively, to make it 33-6 before Loras (9-0, 1-0 IIAC) scored bonus points in the final three matches for the final margin.
Buena Vista is now 1-3 on the year (0-2 IIAC) and looks to bounce back when it travels to Nebraska Wesleyan on January 10 for an Iowa Conference match against the Prairie Wolves. BVU rolled to a 36-9 triumph over NWU last season during its Dinner and a Show.
