The 2017 Iowa Conference Women's Golf Championships get underway on September 29 & 30 with rounds one and two at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls. Friday's round begins at 10:00am with Saturday at 9:00am.
Rounds three and four will conclude the championships next weekend, October 6-7, at Indianola Country Club in Indianola, Iowa. This year's 72-hole event is hosted by Simpson College.
First round tee-times are according to seeding which is based on a team's four-best 18-hole average during the fall. Pairings for the final 36 holes are determined by the team scores from each of the previous rounds.
Buena Vista is looking to be back to full strength for the first time since its season-opening event back on September 2-3. Due to various cicumstances, the team has played with no more than four golfers in any of its last six rounds. That season-opening event was the team's best 36-hole stretch of the season (703) when it posted a season-low team round of 350 in round one.
Freshman Graysen Mechler has the lowest individual round of the year so far for the Beavers, carding a 79 over the first 18 holes of the Lila Frommelt Classic two weeks ago. Fellow freshman Raelinn Arnold who returned last week for the first time since that season-opener, posted a 36-hole total of 167 to tie for 10th out of 90 golfers at the BVU Fall Invite. Arnold's 83.8 scoring average over her four rounds is also tops on the team. The team's top-three individuals are averaging 85.3 or less on the year.
The Beavers are seeded seventh heading into Friday's opening round. The team hasn't finished any higher than seventh since taking sixth in 2011. The last individual to earn All-IIAC accolades was Kylie Hammer in 2011.
