Women's Basketball Handed 78-49 Road Loss at Gustavus Adolphus

Erin Gerke scored a career-high 13 points and grabbed five rebounds while Holly Schneider turned in 11 points and a team-leading seven boards, but it was not enough on Tuesday night, as the Buena Vista women's basketball team fell on the road at Gustavus Adolphus, 78-49.

The Gusties jumped out to an 19-12 lead after one quarter and extended the margin to 36-24 at the break.  Gustavus never let BVU get into any sort of run, as the Beavers were held to just 32.7 percent shooting from the field.  Neither side had much luck from behind the arc, combining to go 9-of-37.

Buena Vista turned the ball over a season-high 33 times in the contest which led to 40 points for the Gusties.  Gustavus Adolphus had 25 turnovers in the game, but BVU was only able to turn those into eight points.

Gerke connected on two of the team's four three-point buckets and sank 3-of-4 free-throw attempts.  Schneider was 4-of-9 from the field and 2-of-2 at the line.

Justine Lee helped lead Gustavus Adolphus (3-1) with 21 points and eight rebounds while Kendall Thompson finished with a double-double (14pts, 10rbs).

Buena Vista dips to 2-2 on the year and heads back to the state of Illinois on November 24-25 to take part in the Monmouth and Knox Thanksgiving Classic.  The Beavers will play Monmouth on Saturday and Knox on Sunday.  Both games will tip-off at 1:00 p.m.
