The Buena Vista women's basketball team traveled to Dordt College on Tuesday night for an exhibition game against the Defenders, and BVU had a tough night at both ends of the floor en route to a 112-49 loss.
BVU was held to just 16 field goals in the contest and shot just 22 percent overall while Dordt was an efficient 60 percent from the field, making 41 field goals, including a 10-of-21 effort from downtown.
The Defenders opened up a 31-18 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. They led 62-34 at the break and held BVU to just three points in the fourth quarter.
Erin Streit was 4-of-16 shooting and finished with a team-high nine points and six rebounds. Erin Gerke and Jenn Poots followed with seven points each while Destiny Einerwold and Jennifer Schneider came off the bench to add six points apiece.
Both teams turned the ball over 23 times, but the Defenders held a plus-30 edge on the glass (59-39), as they improve to 2-0 on the year.
Buena Vista now turns its focus on its season-opener on Saturday, November 10, at Iowa Wesleyan University. Tip-off of that contest is set for 1:00 p.m.
