Buena Vista assistant women's basketball coach Dana Christen has been promoted to associate head coach as announced by BVU Director of Athletics Jack Denholm this week.
Christen has been head coach Janet Berry's top assistant for the past seven seasons and been on staff for the last eight. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in developing and coaching a number of key post players for the Beavers. Two seasons ago, BVU had a pair of post players rank in the top-15 of the Iowa Conference in both scoring and rebounding and in 2016-17, there were two that ranked in the top-20 in scoring and top-five in blocked shots.
The Beavers are coming off back-to-back Iowa Conference Tournament semifinal appearances, and they have ranked in the top three during IIAC play in scoring and have been in the top three in rebounding in two of the last three seasons.
"I am excited to announce the promotion of Coach Christen to associate head coach," says BVU head coach Janet Berry. "Over the last eight years, Dana has been a valued member of our coaching staff and has contributed tremendously to our success. She has shown her excellence by her loyalty and her commitment to the women in our program. Dana has a great defensive mind and done an outstanding job developing our post players."
Christen has also served as the program's junior varsity head coach in each of her seven seasons.
