DECORAH - Luther scored four times without recording a hit during the second inning of game one en route to a 6-0 victory and then jumped out to an early lead in game two and held of the Beavers 5-1 in American Rivers Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
The Norse walked a total of five times in the second, including a pair with the bases loaded. They also pushed across a run on a hit by pitch and the final on a passed ball.
Luther did not record its first hit of the game until the sixth inning when it doubled twice and added one single while pushibg across two more runs to extend the lead to 6-0.
The Beavers out-hit the Norse, 5-3, in the contest getting hits from five different players, including a double from Kayden Archibeque. Marissa Promes got the started and pitched just one inning, allowing four runs (two earned) while walking three.
Kate Lesmeister gave BVU a quick 1-0 lead in game two with an RBI double to left in the first inning, but the lead was short-lived as Luther came right back in the bottom half with a 3-run home run to take the lead for good. They went on to add RBI singles in both the second and third innings.
BVU stranded six runners in the game and couldn't come through with the big hit when it needed to aside from the first inning. Brook Linderman also doubled for the Beavers as one of the team's seven hits.
Peyton Gross got the start and allowed a pair of hits and one walk before Promes relieved her after the first inning homerun.
BVU has now dropped six straight games overall and are 14-12 on the year (0-6 A-R-C). It will look to end the skid and get into the win column during conference play when it hosts Nebraska Wesleyan (18-6, 3-1 A-R-C) on Wednesday, April 10 in a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
