Beall Finishes Second in Discus to Wrap up A-R-C Championships

CEDAR RAPIDS - Despite battling through cool and drizzly conditions throughout the final day of the American Rivers Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, Buena Vista senior Drew Beall came through with a clutch runner-up performance in the discus to highlight the day for the Beavers.

Competing in his final event of his career, Beall saved his best performance of the year for last and posted a heave of 153-06 to take second.  Dubuque's Blaze Murfin won the event with a toss of 164-04.

A handful of personal best times were clocked in the 1,500-meter run by the Beavers while Greg Tystahl shaved nearly a minute off his previous best time in the 5k.

As a team, BVU finished seventh overall with 33 total points.

"Our guys fought all weekend long and overall had some great performances," says head coach Colt Slack.  "Our senior throwers really did some heavy lifting by scoring the majority of our team points.  A big congrats to Chase and Drew on their all-conference accolades. Lots of PR's highlighted a pretty successful conference championship."

Select members from the team will take part in a Last Chance qualifying meet on Thursday, May 16 at Augustana College (Ill.).
