Buena Vista junior Drew Beall wrapped up the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday morning by placing 17th in the discus with his best toss of the day at 45.64m (149-9).
His opening toss went just over 149 feet with his second landing at 136 feet, 4.25 inches. He then launched his best throw of the day to wrap up his turn in the first flight by heaving it 45.64m (149 feet, 9 inches). That was seventh in the flight and 17th-best overall. He came into the championships fresh off his best-ever toss of just over 163 feet last Thursday in the Last Chance qualifying meet.
This year's winning toss was 58.40m (191-7.25) by Sam Elsner from UW-Stout. Eighth-place was 50.49m (165.7.25).
