Buena Vista junior Drew Beall has officially qualified to the 2018 Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in the discus throw after his career-best heave of 49.45m on Thursday at the Last Chance Qualifying Meet at Augustana College (Ill.). This year's outdoor nationals are hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Beall's toss is ranked 17th in DIII with the top-20 individual marks selected to take part in the championships. He is the program's first outdoor national qualifier since Seth Woodson competed in the 800m run in 2015 and placed seventh. He looks to become the program's first-ever All-American in the discus throw.
Beall will toss at 11:00am on Thursday, May 24 which is the first day of this year's championships.
