The Buena Vista men's track and field team had seven personal best marks on Saturday as it competed at the Dakota Wesleyan Alumni Open, including a top-50 national performance by Brennan Dostal who was making his season debut.
Dostal ran 7.01 seconds in the 60-meter dash and is now ranked 27th nationally. He also placed second in the 200m dash in a time of 22.71 and was just 0.3 seconds off the winning time.
Garrett Rohlk was just off his school record mark in the weight throw by going 16.53m and placing third overall. Drew Beall was close behind in sixth at 15.30m. Alex Loerts took sixth in the 600m run.
" It was great seeing Dostal run in his season opener today," said head coach Colt Slack. "His time in the 60 dash is ranked nationally and his 200 is sitting very high in the conference. Jeremiah Rice and Sam McCain were clicking in the triple jump and our 600 and mile boys ran to some greet new PR's!"
The Beavers will keep working toward the indoor championships as they take part in the Darren Young Classic, hosted by Grinnell College, next Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
