Traveling to Waterloo did not prove to be user friendly for the Beavers as they drop 3 close matches against Loras in a Conference match up and fall 1-8. The lone win for Buena Vista came at #2 Singles, as Danny Kramer notched a 3-set thriller against Ryan Scheidt 3-6, 6-3, (12-10).
"Danny has become our comeback kid this spring as he has had multiple matches go in to the third set. The previous time it happened he lost 22-24, so to see that challenge from before, and overcome it tonight, says a lot about his progress as a player" Coach Groen remarked.
BVU was already down 0-3 after doubles, and needed to practically sweep Loras in Singles to get the win. "I really feel we have been on a roller coaster from Spring Break matches to today's match with our play. One match we will shine in doubles and our singles will pay for it, or our singles is great like today, but our doubles was off" Coach Groen commented.
The Beavers did put up a fight in singles though, as the top 3 singles matches all went 3-sets, but only Kramer was able to reach the 10 point mark first in the super tie break. Coach Groen reflected on Foss's and Thompson's singles match, "we really did play effective singles today at the top, putting in to practice many shots we had been working on, we just didn't win the big points at the right time"
Buena Vista will have a two day break before welcoming University of Northwestern, St. Paul on Friday, and Central on Saturday.
