STORM LAKE - Buena Vista senior men's tennis player John Foss has earned weekly recognition by being named the American Rivers Conference Men's Tennis Performer of the Week for the first time in his career and becomes the first-ever player in program history to receive such accolades.
The team played three matches on the week and Foss helped BVU win each one to put together just its fourth three-match win streak or better over the last six seasons.
In singles play, Foss went 3-0 on the week, including a thrilling three-set tiebreaking victory over Laine Larson of Bethany Lutheran College on Saturday afternoon. Outside of that match, he allowed just three total points in the other two combined. He's now won four straight singles matches and is 4-1 on the year.
He teamed up with Aaron Pluym in doubles play and that duo went 2-1 on the week with its only loss an 8-1 setback against Bethany Lutheran's Larson and Dalton Werckman. They are now 3-2 overall.
Buena Vista is also 3-2 overall and will be off until March 16-22 when it will play matches out in Hilton Head, S.C., over Spring Break.
