Men's Tennis Wraps up Season with Home Loss to Dubuque

The Buena Vista men's tennis team wrapped up its season on Sunday afternoon by hosting the University of Dubuque out on the Buntrock Tennis Courts, but the Spartans would go on to pick up a 9-0 win.

BVU was edged 8-5 and 8-4 at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles before the Spartans won in straight sets throughout singles play.

"Despite the score, it was a very good effort from top to bottom for our team," said head coach Brett Groen. "Compared to how we played a couple of weeks ago, I was very happy with our effort and our shot selection, just not enough of all the right stuff at the right time. We also battled in each and every point of every game and the entire match. Zack, at number four, probably had his best performance of the year and although it didn't show up in the score he played a great match in singles. Our doubles teams were solid and put us in the position to win some extra games; we just were not able to execute all of the right shots at the right time and it cost us. In doubles, just a few points here and there can separate a team by two or three games in a heartbeat."

Buena Vista wraps up its season at 5-13 overall (0-8 IIAC).
