Another Solid Day for Men's Golf to Wrap up Wartburg Invite

It may not have been quite as low as Friday's opening round, but the Buena Vista men's golf team still had a solid round of 310 on Saturday to complete the two-day, 36-hole Wartburg College Fall Invite. Freshman Ryan Ruzek takes eighth place, individually.

Ruzek followed up his career-beat round of 73 on Friday with a 74 to finish just five shots back of the overall medalist.  Fellow freshman Anthony Gallagher posted a 77 and was in a tie for 15th just three strokes back of a top-10 finish.  Evan Krause had his career-low round of 78 to move up and place 39th overall.

Andrew Underbrink (81) and Logan Madren (84) rounded out the line-up for the blue and gold, which placed fifth.  It was the team's best 36-hole score under third-year head coach, Brett Benson.

"Ryan played very well, and put himself in position to win," said Benson. "He just made a few swings that didn't end up going our way. It was a good overall performance by all and by far the best tournament in my three years here."

Kirkwood Community College took the team title with a 580 as runner-up Coe College turned in a 598.  BVU finished just four shots back of Simpson which carded a 300 after an opening round 311.

Buena Vista will now wrap up its fall schedule by taking part in the Bethany Lutheran College Invite on September 29-30 in Mankato, Minn.
