The Buena Vista men's basketball team has made itself at home inside Siebens Fieldhouse to begin the year, and the team will play its fourth home game in five games to start the year when it hosts Coe College Wednesday night in the American Rivers Conference opener for both teams.

The team has won back-to-back double-digit games to move above .500 on the year after dropping two straight to begin the year 1-3. The most recent triumph was a 72-56 home victory over Westminster on November 20. It also comes in with wins over Iowa Wesleyan (85-64) and Piedmont (79-64). Overall, the team is averaging nearly 77.0 points per game and is second in the A-R-C in scoring defense, allowing just 69.6ppg. It is shooting better than 43 percent overall from the field and over 80 percent from the charity stripe which is second in the league. On the defensive end, teams haven't had a great deal of success thus far dialing it up from long range, as the Kohawks are tops in the conference in three-point defense with opponents shooting only 28.4 percent from downtown. Nolan Timp leads the team and is fifth in the league in scoring at 21.2 points per game. He's also tops on the team in rebounding (6.0rpg) and steals (10), second in assists (15) and is shooting better than 85 percent from the line (30-of-35). He leads the A-R-C in field goal percentage at 66.7 percent. Adam McDermott is second on the team in scoring (13.2ppg) and is 17-of-35 from long range (.486 percent) and 9-of-10 at the free-throw line. Tommy Hook (10.8ppg) and Austin Roth (10.4ppg) are also averaging double-digits in scoring.

The Beavers look to bounce back from their first home loss of the year, a 92-87 setback against Elmhurst College, on Saturday afternoon. For the fourth straight game, the team made over 10 made three-point buckets and are second in the conference in three-point percentage at 42.7 percent. Its 56 made three-point shots are also second-most. Timothy Jeffries was in double-digits for the fourth straight game matching the longest such stretch of his career. He currently leads the team and is seventh in the A-R-C at 18.3ppg. Dominic Sesma is second on the team at 13.8ppg and has made a team-best 12 three-point shots. Connor Winkelman is having a career-year thus far, sitting third on the team in scoring (12.3ppg) and is second in made three-point shots (11). He's ranked in the top-20 in DIII in three-point percentage and is fourth in the conference at 61.1 percent (11-of-18). Robert Hawkins is coming off a career-high 20 points againist the Bluejays and is fourth on the team overall at 11.3ppg. The Beavers are shooting 47.8 percent overall from the field with opponents having even more success at 52.9 percent. The team is averaging 84.0 points per game and allowing 84.5 points per contest.
