The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced its 2018 All-IIAC Men's Basketball Teams on Thursday, and Buena Vista was recognized with a pair of selections as well as one honorable mention.
David Jeffries was selected First Team All-Conference after being the league's Defensive Player of the Year last season as a junior. Jeffries scored 14.2 points per game this season, which ranked 15th overall during IIAC play. He averaged 27.1 minutes per game which was ranked 22nd while ranking third in steals (1.7 per game), and seventh in rebounding at 5.6 per game. Jeffries also ranked in the top-13 in field goal pct., assists, 3-point FG pct, blocked shots, assist-to-turnover ratio, and defensive rebounds.
Thomas Wisecup was honored with a Second Team All-Conference selection for the second straight year. Wisecup ranked 20th in points at 12.3 points per game and his 28.9 minutes per game was the 14th highest during IIAC play. Wisecup ranked sixth in rebounds at 5.8 per game during conference play and was ranked fourth in assists at 4.3 per game. Wisecup was also ranked in the top-13 in 3-point FG pct, 3-point FG made, assist-to-turnover ratio, and defensive rebounds.
Billy Sparks recieved Honorable Mention during his first season on the floor. Sparks was 24th overall in points at 11.1 points per game during IIAC play and did most of his damage from long range as he ranked sixth overall in 3-point field goal percentage and fourth overall in 3-point field goals made.
Buena Vista was 10-6 during league play this season, finishing third in the standings, while going 17-9 overall.
