The Buena Vista Men's basketball team heads into Saturday's matchup looking to end the regular season on a high note before heading into the IIAC Tournament. Buena Vista is already locked into third in the tournament which begins next week Tuesday night (Feb. 20).
The Beavers (16-8, 9-6 IIAC) head out on the road for a matchup against Luther College (5-19, 0-15 IIAC) looking to get a win after dropping a season-high three straight, including losses against Dubuque and Loras last week. The previous matchup against Luther had BVU come out on top 87-69. The Beavers had control throughout the game led by senior Thomas Wisecup who put in 17 points. BVU was able to dominate that game on the glass, out-rebounding Luther by 14 (40-26). The Beavers also showed great teamwork by assisting on 27 of the 32 made field goals.
Buena Vista has a sizeable advantage on the offensive end, coming into the game ranked third in the IIAC in points per game at 85.5ppg, while Luther ranks at the bottom of the conference only scoring 70 points per game. Buena Vista will look to match the amount of 3's they scored against Luther after they dropped 18 threes in the previous game. Buena Vista leads the IIAC in 3-point field goal percentage per game at 41.7 percent.
The Beavers will need to contain the scoring of Jared Nicolaisen, who scored 24 points in the last meeting and averages 17.0ppg; ranking seventh in the IIAC.
Tip-off for Saturday's game will be at 4 p.m. at the Regents Center Gymnasium.
