STORM LAKE - The Buena Vista University baseball team won 10 of its last 11 games to end the regular season and earn a second-seed into the American Rivers Conference Tournament which runs May 9-11 in Cedar Rapids inside of Veterans Memorial Stadium. BVU enters the tournament seeking its third conference tournament crown in program history.

Conference Tournament History:
The Beavers are the #2 seed for the third time since the conference tournament started back in 1994. Back in 2011 was the first time the Beavers got a #2 seed where they lost both games in the tournament but got an at large bid into regional play. BVU surged againa after the conference tournament and played their way all the way to College World Series where they ended 3rd in the nation. The last time it was a #2 seed was in 2016 when they went 2-1 in the tournament.

The Beavers look to stay strong going into conference play after coming off a three-game sweep over Dubuque. With the sweep of Dubuque, the Beavers have earned a #2 seed going into the conference tournament. Bryce Rheault is having a great year finding himself leading the conference in triples with 5, hits with 64, and 46 runs scored. He finds himself in third place with 20 stolen bases and has jumped to the top for batting average, batting .395 at the plate after going 6-11 at the plate this last weekend. Peyton Renning has been hitting the ball well this year finding himself in #2 spot with 57 hits. Gage Smart has been throwing the ball very well this year, finding himself leading the conference with a .123 opponent batting average against him. He is also in second with a 1.34 era on the year and in third place with 6 saves on the year.
Luther is just coming off a 2-1 series win over Simpson to help push them up to the number three seed in the conference. Luther will play Loras in the first round of the playoffs. The winner will move on to play Buena Vista at 2pm on Thursday. Luke Plunkett has been playing well this year finding himself in second in conference with 34 RBI's and a slugging percent of .597. He has been swinging the bat well, he has hit 4 homeruns to be tied in 3rd and is hitting .370 at the plate that places him 5th in the conference for average. Owen Vander Linden is finding solid contact with the ball placing himself in 3rd for conference with 54 hits. Jake Vogt has been patient this year at the plate finding himself in second place with 25 walks. With this many walks he has been trying to steal bases often and is leading conference with 26 stolen bases which has caused him to score 36 runs on the year that placed him in third for runs scored. Colin Coffey has pitched the second-most innings on the year (70.1) and is fifth in the conference with a 2.69 era on the year.
Loras is coming off a 2-1 series win over Dubuque that gave them the sixth seed going into the conference tournament. Loras ended the season with a 16-18 overall record. As a team, the Duhawks are batting .263 with 13 triples which is fifth in the A-R-C. On the mound, the staff has registered eight saves on the year which is second. Austin Konagel is leading the team with a .338 average with 47 hits. Robbie Agerbeek leads the team with three homeruns. Tanner Fallon has a staff-best 1.93 ERA on the year.
With a win, the Beavers will advance and play again at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. A loss will put them into the 4:00 p.m. contest on Friday.
