Rheault Named A-R-C Male Athlete of the Week

STORM LAKE - Buena Vista junior infielder Bryce Rheault has been named the American Rivers Conference Male Athlete of the Week for his strong play on the field this past week which helped the Beavers go 4-1 overall.  He was also the league's baseball position player of the week.

Rheault went 10-for-20 at the plate for a .500 average over the five games.  He also walked four times and was hit by a pitch twice to push his on-base percentage for the week up to .593.  He  had multiple hits in four of the five contests and also scored eight runs and stole five bases.

He connected for his second home run of the year when he launched a three-run shot to give BVU a 5-0 lead in game two against Nebraska Wesleyan on Tuesday night en route to a 9-4 victory and the doubleheader sweep.  He carried the hot bat into the weekend series at Luther where he went 6-for-13 with three walks and four runs scored as the Beavers won 2-of-3 over the Norse and pulled within one game of them for second-place in the A-R-C standings.

Rheault is hitting .381 during conference play this season which ranks fourth in the A-R-C.  He's also fourth in total bases (47), walks (13) and stolen bases (10).  This marks the second time BVU has landed such recognition this season (Peyton Renning).  It's also the second time Rheault has earned weekly honors (March 18, 2018).

Buena Vista is 19-17 overall and 12-9 in conference play.  The Beavers are a half game behind the University of Dubuque for third in the league standings and one game back of Luther for second.  BVU and Dubuque will square off in Storm Lake for a pivotal three-game weekend series to close out the regular season starting with game one on Friday night at 6:00 p.m.  The Beavers enter the series having won seven straight home games and are 8-2 this season.
