Rally Falls Short for Beaver Baseball during 5-3 Loss to Macalester

TUCSON, Ariz. - Hits were at a minimum for the Buena Vista baseball team on Sunday as the Beavers were held to only three against Macalester, and it was the Scots plating three late insurance runs to hang on and edge BVU, 5-3.

The game was tied at 1-1 into the seventh inning before Macalester put up three runs in the top half of the inning and that proved to be just enough.  BVU cut into that lead and got back within 4-3 in the eighth, but the Scots added an insurance run in the ninth for the final score.

Nick Henrichs pitched six solid innings for the Beavers, allowing just four runs on six hits and striking out five.  Clayton Christian and Austin Scott came on and worked three innings of releif, allowing just the one run on two hits while combining to strikeout for batters.

Henrichs also got it done at the plate, recording his second triple of the year while Peyton Renning and Noah Paper both singled for the team's other two hits.  Macalester finished with eight base knocks in the contest with only one going for extra bases.

Buena Vista drops to 5-6 on the year and will look to avenge Sunday's loss to the Scots when the two sides play again on Monday morning starting at 11:00 a.m. (1:00 p.m. CDT).  Live stats and video will be available via bvuathletics.com.
