STORM LAKE - Buena Vista senior outfielder Peyton Renning had a monster week at the plate during the team's four-game weekend series against Grinnell College, and for his performance he has been named the American Rivers Conference Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending, March 10.
After beginning his final campaign 0-for-8, Renning found his groove against the Pioneers by chalking up 12 base hits in the series and finishing the week with a .625 average. He set career-highs with five hits and four RBI during the 16-8 series-opening victory on Saturday afternoon. To wrap up the weekend, he then added four hits and matched a career-best with three runs scored in the team's 14-10 game two loss on Sunday.
Through six games this season, Renning has moved up to seventh in the A-R-C with a .462 average on the year and is second in the league with 12 hits. He earns the weekly conference accolades for the first time in his career.
Buena Vista is 2-4 overall and is set to travel to Tucson, Ariz., to play six games on its annual Spring Break trip. It begins action on Thursday, March 14, against Bethany Lutheran.
