Buena Vista head baseball coach Steve Eddie has announced the return of Joe Paletta as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2019 season.
Paletta had previously served as an assistant from 2015-17 before stepping away last year to pursue other career opportunities. During his first stint with the program, he helped coach defense and base running, and the team ranked in the top-3 of the conference in fielding percentage each season. It was second in stolen bases in 2016 with 63.
Paletta was a four-year starter himself as a player for BVU from 2011-14. As a freshman, he was the primary designated hitter when the team advanced into the DIII College World Series. He then closed his career by helping guide the Beavers to the Iowa Conference regular season and tournament championships as a senior in 2014.
The Beavers went 15-23 in 2018, including 10-12 mark in conference play.
