The Buena Vista basketball teams are playing their final two home games of the season this week, beginning with Wednesday night's doubleheader against Central College inside of Siebens Fieldhouse. Tip-offs are scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Both teams are coming off heartbreaking three-point setbacks this past Saturday on the road at Nebraska Wesleyan. In the women's game, the Prairie Wolves stepped to the free-throw line after a foul with 1.8 seconds left to sink all three attempts en route to a 71-68 triumph. Meanwhile in the men's game, BVU roared back over the final seven minutes but missed a pair of game-tying three-point tries and would fall to the second-ranked Prairie Wolves, 89-86.
Destiny Einerwold scored a career-high 24 points for the women while Connor Winkelman also turned in a career-high 24 points (8-of-14 3-pt FG). BVU set a new school record for made three-point buckets with 21, breaking the record of 20 which it set just a week earlier in its win at Luther.
Following Wednesday night's contests, the Beavers will play host to the University of Dubuque on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day. Game times are set for 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. with senior recognition taking place directly before each tip-off.
