The Buena Vista volleyball team begins its quest for the program's first-ever Iowa Conference Tournament title when it hosts Nebraska Wesleyan on Tuesday, October 31, in the quarterfinal round.
BVU, which is this year's third seed, will host sixth-seed Nebraska Wesleyan University at 7:00 p.m. inside of Siebens Fieldhouse on Halloween night. The two teams faced each other in this year's IIAC opener back on September 14 in Storm Lake with the Beavers sweeping the Prairie Wolves (11-13, 3-5 IIAC) in three sets (25-18, 26-24, 25-20). NWU defeated Simpson to earn the final spot into the tournament.
The Beavers (20-9, 5-3 IIAC) will take their 10-match overall win streak, which included wins in their final four league matches this season, into play against NWU, which has lost 10 of its last 13 overall. BVU also closed out the regular season at 7-0 inside of Siebens Fieldhouse and has won nine straight home matches dating back to 2016.
All Beaver fans are encouraged to come decked out in their favorite Halloween costume to help cheer on the team. Those in constumes will have a chance to enter a contest for a chance at a possible $30 La Juanita's gift card.
In the other quarterfinal match-up, fourth-seed Dubuque will host fifth-seed Coe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both winners will then move onto the semifinals which will take place at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, inside of the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. The championship match is slated for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4.
Wartburg College (19-5, 7-0 IIAC) wrapped up the regular season title and will be the tournament's top-seed with Luther College going 16-9, 6-2 IIAC and taking the second seed. Both teams received first round byes.
The winner of the tournament is the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament which begin Friday, November 10.
