Due to injury, the Buena Vista women's tennis team had to go on the road and play shorthanded against Simpson College on Friday afternoon, and the Storm was able to take advantage of two open slots and hang on for a 6-2 victory.
BVU was forced to forfeit both the number six singles and number three doubles spots to the Storm due to an injury suffered on Wednesday against Midland University.
Despite playing shorthanded, the Beavers did come out and make things close. Senior Tarynne Kinghorn moved down to team up with Rica Mizero at number two doubles, and the tandem went on to pick up an 8-6 victory.
Mizero ran her overall singles record to 5-2 with a 6-2, 4-2 victory at number four.
No decision was given in what was a tight number one singles match because it could not be completed due to darkness.
The Beavers have already won more singles matches this season than it did in all of 2015-16.
Buena Vista is 0-7 overall (0-4 IIAC) and is back out on the court today for a 10:00am match at Central before returning home for matches against Loras (10:00am) and Grand View (4:00pm) on Sunday.
