The 2017-18 Buena Vista wrestling season gets underway in Platteville, Wis., on Saturday, as the Beavers take part in the Super 8 Invite, hosted by UW-Platteville.
Fourth-year head coach Jeff Breese and his staff know that the team is still relatively young overall, but he's excited to see where his first recruiting class - that is now in its junior season - can take and lead this program to over the course of the year. Among that class is Brad Kerkhoff, who was sixth at last year's NCAA Regional Tournament, as well as Shane Vaughan, who tied the school record for pins in a season.
There is only one senior on the squad which went 2-7 overall in 2016-17, including a 1-7 mark against conference foes.
Breese has brought in nine freshman and is excited about that group and the quality depth it should provide to the line-up. KBVU Sports Director, Tanner Hoops, sat down with Breese this past Monday night as part of the weekly Monday Evening Sports Talk. You can view that interview HERE.
A few members also spoke during the team's media day back in early October about how they've prepared themselves for the upcoming season. That video can be seen HERE.
