After a strong start to the year a week ago, the Buena Vista women's golf team looked to keep momentum going this week as it opened play on Saturday at the Wartburg College Fall Invite. BVU, however, finished with a 383 and is 19th overall.
Junior Emily Kim got her opening round off to fast start with three birdies on the first seven holes before reaching the clubhouse with a round of 83. She is tied for 44th overall but is only four shots back of the top-20. Graysen Mechler was next with a 93 as Nicole Rohner (101) and Katelyn Baltes (110) rounded out the line-up, as the Beavers played with only four golfers on the day.
UW-Stout's Rachel Hernandez is the clubhouse leader after firing a -2 (70) to lead by one shot over St. Catherine's Sydney Busker. St. Catherine, which had two golfers in the top-5, is the overall team leader with a 303. It leads runner-up UW-Stout by 10 shots.
Final round action is set for Sunday at 9:00am.
