Schneider scored nine early points as the Beavers held a 14-9 lead with under three minutes left in the first quarter. The Norse, however, closed the period on a 9-1 spurt, including a running three-point shot as time expired, to take a three-point lead to the second.
BVU scored the first six points of the second to take a three-point lead, but the Norse answered back with eight straight to take a 29-21 and never trailed again. The Beavers got as close as four, but a three-point bucket for Luther in the closing seconds of the half gave the Norse a 41-32 cushion.
Luther had success with its press and trap defense all game long which led to 39 points off turnovers. The Norse also held a 47-37 advantage on the glass and held a 13-5 margin in second chance points.
Demers and Schneider combined to shoot 12-of-24 from the field while no other player made more than three.
Claudia Larsen registered seven points and grabbed 13 rebounds and also became the school's single-season record-holder in blocks with five more against the Norse. She now has 52 on the year which breaks Jocelyn Kock's single-season mark of 51 set back in 2010-11.
Morgan Muhlbauer scored seven points and grabbed six boards and was held to just 1-of-7 from downtown.
Luther improves to 12-7 (6-2 IIAC) while Buena Vista has now dropped four straight to move to 8-9 (3-4 IIAC). The Beavers begin the second half of the conference schedule on Saturday evening when they host Simpson College (11-6, 5-3 IIAC) at 5:00 p.m.
