Buena Vista led 17-14 after one quarter and began to seize control in the second by starting on a 13-3 run and took a comfortable 43-31 lead into the break.
La Verne (2-7) tried to mount a comeback in the third quarter as it trailed by only seven with under a minute to play in the period before Cassy Miller stepped up and nailed a big three-point bucket for a 65-55 lead going to the fourth. BVU then scored the first two buckets of the final stanza to build a 14-point lead and kept the double-digit lead the rest of the way. La Verne was still down by only 10 with seven minutes to go, but Beth Sibenaller's bucket ignited a 6-0 run over the next three minutes to put the Beavers in front by 16, and they led by at least 15 the rest of the way.
Clarissa Perez led all scorers with 27 points to lead La Verne which was held to only 31 percent shooting from the field.
Buena Vista is now 5-5 overall and will look to close out its non-conference schedule with a win as it faces Cal Lutheran on Friday evening for a 6:00pm tip-off.
