Last Time Out: The Beavers evened their record by picking up a 79-54 victory to close out the Simpson College Thanksgiving Classic last Saturday. The Storm were dealt a tough 66-63 loss against Saint Benedict in the final game of their own Classic on Saturday.
About Simpson: The Storm are off to a strong start to the season after going just 9-16 overall a season ago, including a 6-10 mark in IIAC play. Both of the team's losses this season have been by a combined six points, while their three wins are by a combined 69 points. Noreen Morrow, this week's Co-IIAC Women's Basketball Performer of the Week, is the only player on the roster currently averaging double figures in scoring (12.0ppg). She's also grabbing a team-leading 8.0rpg. Janey Botkins is turning in 9.6ppg and leading the way at better than 41 percent from downtown. As a team, the Storm are scoring over 71.0ppg and shooting 45 percent from the field.
About BVU: The Beavers are getting a great deal of production out of their starting five to begin the young season as four of those five are averaging double figures in scoring. Morgan Muhlbauer leads the way at 16.0ppg while also shooting 50 percent from downtown. Claudia Larsen is off to a strong start at 14.0ppg and nearly 9.0rpg. She's also averaging a league-high 3.5 blocks per contest. Jasmine Demers (13.2ppg) and Holly Schneider (12.0ppg) have also averaged double-figures through six games with Schneider also dishing out 2.5 assists per game. BVU is shooting over 42 percent from the field and is averaging over 6.0 made three-point buckets per night which is sixth in the league. The team was picked to finish sixth in the preseason poll after a 14-13 season (9-7 IIAC) in 2016-17.
A Look Ahead: The Beavers will return home for the first time since their season opener when they entertain Coe College in an IIAC contest on Saturday, December 2, at 2:00pm. That marks the teams final league contest until after the New Year.
