Knights Pull Away Late to End Season for Women's Hoops

Claudia Larsen turned in 14 points and Jasmine Demers added 12, but it wasn't quite enough in the end, as top-seed and ninth-ranked Wartburg College would outscore BVU 22-11 in the fourth quarter en route to an 82-67 victory over the Beavers.

Larsen was 6-of-10 from the field and was strong in the post all night at both ends.  She also dished out a career-high five assists and added two more blocks to finish fourth on the program's single-season list with 45.  Demers scored nine of her 12 in the first half and finished 4-of-13 from the floor.  Jordan Tynes chipped in with nine points and five boards as Morgan Muhlbauer added seven points and nine rebounds.

Holly Schneider turned in eight points on 2-of-3 shooting from downtown while Sidney Beckman made just one trey and fell on make shy of tying Lexi Fisher (216) for second all-time in prorgram history.

BVU shot 45 percent from the field in the first half before cooling off a bit in the second and finished the game shooting 39.4 percent overall.

The Knights held a slim 22-19 lead after the first quarter before BVU played a strong second frame to take a 37-35 lead into the break.  It was still a four-point game heading to the fourth before a key 7-1 run by Wartburg to start the quarter was too much for BVU to overcome.

Buena Vista closes its season at 14-13 overall, as the loss also ends the careers of six seniors: Nicole Snyder, Sidney Beckman, Jessica Jager, Liz Riessen, Jordan Tynes and Jessica Chiu.
