    Buena Vista University head softball coach Mandie Berneking has named Katie Yoder as her top assistant coach beginning with the 2017 season.
  • Members of BVU Softball to Travel to Italy this Summer

    Three players and one coach from the Buena Vista University softball team will be traveling to Italy as a part of a select traveling team by the American International Sports Team (AIST). The team will represent USA in Italy against club teams from different regions of the country.
  • Cheyanne Boland Named Third Team All-Region by NFCA

    The National Faspitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced its 2016 All-Region Teams on Monday, and Buena Vista University catcher Cheyanne Boland was voted to the Third Team. A total of 364 players from across DIII earned recognition among the eight regions.
  • Beaver Softball Lands Four All-IIAC Players; One Honorable Mention

    The Buena Vista softball team was recognized for one of its best seasons in the last 15 years by landing four All-Iowa Conference selections along with one additional Honorable Mention honoree as announced by the league office on Monday.
  • Softball Eliminated from IIAC Tournament with 7-2 Loss to Wartburg

    Wartburg College used a four-run sixth inning to break open a 2-2 tie, and the sixth-seeded Knights outlasted the third-seeded Buena Vista softball team, 7-2, on Friday afternoon on day one of the Iowa Conference Tournament in Decorah.
  • Beaver Softball is Third Seed in IIAC Tournament

    The 2016 Iowa Conference Softball Tournament gets underway this Friday, May 6, at Decorah, Iowa with top-seed Luther College serving as the the host. Buena Vista, which finished 7-5 during IIAC play, will be the third seed and open play on Friday afternoon at 4:30pm against sixth-seed Wartburg (6-6 IIAC).

    Due to the amount of rainfall that has fallen, and the unfavorable playing conditions, today’s rescheduled Iowa Conference doubleheader between Buena Vista and Dubuque that was to be played in Storm Lake has been cancelled and will not be made up.
  • Softball vs. Dubuque Postponed to Sunday

    Due to the high threat of significant rainfall on Saturday, April 30, the Buena Vista softball doubleheader scheduled for that day has been postponed to Sunday, May 1. Start time has also been adjusted to 3:00pm.

  • Softball Wins 20th Game during Split with Duhawks

    For the first time since 2001, the Buena Vista softball team has reached 20 wins in a season, and the Beavers did it in dramatic fashion by scoring five times in the seventh inning of game one en route to an 8-5 victory. The Duhawks salvaged the split by taking game two, 6-3.

    Buena Vista scored six times in the seventh inning of game one to overcome a 2-1 deficit to win 7-2, but after rallying back from a 3-0 deficit in game two, the Beavers saw Simpson score three times in the ninth inning to stun them, 6-5.

    In a match-up of the top-two teams in the Iowa Conference standings, the Buena Vista softball hang tough all day against second-ranked Luther College, but in the end it was the Norse escaping with the sweep by scores of 2-1 and 5-1.

    The Buena Vista softball team matched its highest win total since 2001 on Wednesday afternoon, and in the process completed its first doubleheader sweep of Central College since 1996, as it won by scores of 9-0 (5) and 5-4 (10).

    The Buena Vista softball team ran its overall win streak to four games on Saturday after completing a doubleheader sweep at Wartburg College to begin the Iowa Conference schedule. The Beavers scored a pair of late runs in the opener to win 4-2 before cruising to a lopsided 14-1 (5 inning) triumph in game two.

    UW-Stevens Point scored twice in the top of the seventh in the opener to trip up the Beavers, 3-2, in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday, before BVU stormed back in the finale to pick up a 9-1 (5 inning) victory. The games were the home opener for the Beavers.

The team did, however, come right back to roll past UW-River Falls, 9-0 (5 inn.).
