Men's Track & Field Runs at Loras Invite in Advance of IIAC Championships

The Buena Vista men's track and field team took part in Loras College's Dr. Tucker Invite on Friday afternoon in Dubuque, and the Beavers turned in solid efforts in what is their final tune-up before the Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships which begin on May 11.

Brennan Dostal continues to improve in his sprint events, and on Friday, he won the 100m dash in 11.07 while taking second in the 200m in 22.61.  That 200 time was his season-best.  He'll enter the championships ranked fourth (100m) and seventh (200m), respectively.

Ben Sampson took seventh in the 800m with a season-best time of 1:56.18.  He's 12th in the IIAC, but less than three seconds off a top-three spot.

Justin Sacker is among the IIAC leaders in the 400m hurdles.  He ran his best time this time out (55.34) and placed fifth.  He's currently fifth in the league and with two seconds of the top spot.  Freshman Dylan Coffin ran his career-best at 58.13 and moves into 15th in the IIAC.

The 4x400 relay of Sacker, Sampson, Dostal and Casey Lamle was seventh in a season-best time of 3:23.14.  That puts them in the top-six in the IIAC.

Drew Beall (15.22m) took third and Chase Bonner (14.79) fifth in the shot put.  Both men posted season bests in the event with Beall currently third and Bonner seventh in the IIAC.  Beall's toss of 48.84m in the discus (150-5) placed him fourth.  He's also fourth in the IIAC.

Kyle Wessling was third in the javelin at 152-11 and is currently fourth.

The team has its eyes set on a strong conference championships showing which will take place on its own campus.  BVU is the host school this season for the three-day event which begins with the multi-events on Thursday.
