For the first time this fall, the Buena Vista men's tennis team was in action when it traveled to Fort Dodge, Iowa, to face Iowa Central CC, but the Tritons handed BVU a tough 9-0 setback.
The Beavers dropped all three doubles matches by 8-1 scores and were ousted in straight sets in all six singles.
"Obviously not the start we would want on the scoreboard," said head coach Brett Groen. "There were, however, more positives to take away than there were negatives. We played a great team today, a team that would give most of the teams in our conference a run for their money. We just aren't at that point to battle to the end with them."
"I was a little disappointed in our doubles play from top to bottom," Groen added. "I thought we had been doing well in practice but just didn't see the same results tonight. We will work on doubles shots and choice for sure. Another emphasis will be our footwork in singles."
The Beavers (0-1) will travel to Morningside College on Tuesday, April 19, for a 4:00pm match, leading up to the Iowa Conference Individual Tournament next weekend in Ankeny, Iowa.
