It was another strong defensive effort by the Buena Vista men's soccer team on Wednesday night at Wartburg, but the Beavers couldn't put enough offense together during a tough 2-0 loss to the Knights.
Wartburg held a 29-12 advantage in total shots, including a 17-4 margin on-goal. The Knights took a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the match off a corner kick, and that's how things remained until the final six minutes when Wartburg punched one in from the left side of the net late in the 83'.
Armando Torres and Nick Brimeyer each had two shots (one on-goal) for BVU which dropped its ninth match by two goals or less on the year.
Manuel Garcia Aguilar went the distance in-goal for the Beavers, allowing the two goals and chalking up 13 saves.
Buena Vista drops to 3-10-1 (0-4 IIAC) and will look to get that first Iowa Conference win on Friday night when it hosts Coe College (3-9, 0-4 IIAC) at 7:30 p.m inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium.
