Buena Vista head football coach Grant Mollring has announced his team's 2018 schedule which is highlighted by a pair of new non-conference opponents.
Just like it did a year ago, the Beavers will open up their 2018 campaign at home under the lights on a Thursday night. The team will welcome Hamline University from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to campus for the season-opener which is scheduled to kick-off at 6:00 p.m. on August 30.
A week later, BVU travels to Concordia College (Neb.) on Saturday, September 8, for its first road test of the year starting at 1:00pm. Both non-conference games will be the first-ever contests that BVU has played against each team.
On September 15, the Beavers begin Iowa Conference play on the road against defending champion, Wartburg College, which finished 2017 at 12-1 (8-0 IIAC). The first home league game is a week later on September 22 when Coe College visits J. Leslie Rollins Stadium in what will be both the Homecoming and Hall of Fame Game.
BVU will also have road games at Central, Luther and Nebraska Wesleyan. The final home game will also be the final regular season game as BVU hosts Simpson College on November 10 at 1:00 p.m.
"We are excited to open up our season at home against Hamline University on Thursday night," said BVU head coach Grant Mollring. "We had a great night game atmosphere last year in our opener and hope to duplicate that again in 2018. Our non-conference schedule also includes a very tough road game against Concordia University of Nebraska. The Iowa Conference will again be loaded and we look forward to competing against some of the nation's best teams week-in-and-week-out."
