Inside the Series: Today marks the 79th meeting all-time between the two programs with Wartburg holding a 46-29-3 record. The Knights have won seven straight in the series after BVU took back-to-back contests in 2008 and 2009. This is the first match-up between the two sides in Storm Lake since 2014. Five of BVU's last six victories over Wartburg have come inside of J. Leslie Rollins Stadium. The Knights have averaged nearly 47.0ppg in each of the last three match-ups with BVU.
About Wartburg: The Knights look to remain perfect on the year and will take the field following a 23-0 shutout over the University of Dubuque last week. The team leads the Iowa Conference by allowing only 14.2ppg during its first six league contests. It comes in as the league's top pass defense and has not allowed a passing touchdown over the last 12 quarters. The last passing TD allowed came early in the fourth quarter of its game against Central back on October 7. Overall, it surrenders only 216 yards per game through the air. Overall, the team has 17 interceptions on the year, including a team-leading five by JoJo McNair, who also is in double-digits in both pass breakups and passes defended. Offensively, it's a balanced attack with junior quarterback Matt Sacia passing for 245 yards per game with Dylan Binion gaining an average of 107 more on the ground. The running game has three backs that have more than 265 net yards on the ground this season. Riley Brockway is the team's leading pass catcher with 59 for 778 yards and eight TD's. Denison Harrington has 30 catches and four touchdowns.
About BVU: The Beavers are playing their final home contest of the year and come in looking to end a three-game losing streak. BVU dropped a 49-21 contest at Simpson College a week ago which followed a tough 14-13 setback here at home to Nebraska Wesleyan the week before. BVU is ranked second in the league in passing at 329.0ypg in IIAC play and has thrown for 13 touchdowns. Quarterback Cole Miller is just 32 completions shy of matching Bobby Brown's single-season record of 201 and only 28 shy of the total attempts mark of 345. His top receiver, TJ Lint, is 10 catches away from third on the program's single-season list (66). He needs just 141 yards to become only the fourth player in program history to reach 1,000 in a season. He's currently second in the IIAC, averaging 107.4ypg and his seven TD's are tied for third. BVU is ninth in the league in rushing at 94.1ypg. It's also seventh in total offense (415.5ypg) and ninth in total defense (510.5ypg).
A Look Ahead: Buena Vista will close out the season next Saturday, November 11, when it travels to Coe College. The Kohawks (3-5, 1-5 IIAC) play at the University of Dubuque this week.
