Baseball Falls 8-3 in Series Finale at WashU on Sunday

Washington University (Mo.) scored eight unanswered runs after Buena Vista jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Sunday afternoon, and the Bears handed the Beavers an 8-3 loss in the final game of the three-game series.

The Beavers scored an unearned run in the third to score the game's first run in the third.  The Bears then put up five runs on three hits in the fifth to take the lead for good before adding three more runs in the seventh.

BVU did plate two late runs in the ninth on an RBI single from sophomore Tyler Tennyson and a throwing error by the Bears.

Coleman Roberts doubled twice in the contest and went 2-for-4 while Bryce Rheault and Peyton Renning also added two hits.  The Beavers chalked up eight hits overall but struck out 14 times.

Eagan Bonde had a strong start in his season debut, allowing just one hit and striking out four over three innings.  Tyler Vorrie was charged with four runs (1 ER) over 0.1 innings and suffered the loss in relief.  

Buena Vista (0-3) goes after its first win of the season on Thursday night, March 8, when it travels to U.S. Bank Stadium for a doubleheader against Bethel University.  Game one is schedule for 4:00 p.m.
