The Buena Vista track and field teams are gearing up to host the annual Dennis Young Classic inside of the Lamberti Recreation Center this Friday and Saturday.
A total of 10 teams are slated to bring individuals to compete in the two-day event which kicks-off Friday, January 26, with the multi-events starting at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, field events get underway beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the start of running events at 12:30 p.m.
Final results will be posted here on the BVU athletic website as soon as possible following Saturday's action.
The Beavers have had a handful of personal marks reached already in the first two weeks of the indoor season. On the women's side, Brittini Thomas is currently ranked 12th in the Iowa Conference in the 60m hurdles following her personal best time of 9.95 seconds this past Saturday at the Chelsey M. Henkenius Open at Wartburg. Brooke Runneberg is third in the high jump after clearing 1.55m in the season opener at Dordt two weeks ago. Cristyn Eischeid is seventh in the weight throw after her toss of 11.96m last Friday at Nebraska Wesleyan, and she's 13th in the weight throw. Carlee Guyett is 14th in the long jump with Michaela Mason 17th in the triple jump.
On the men's side, Blake Patten turned in a time of 2:08.02 in the 800m run this past Saturday at Wartburg and is currently ranked 11th in the IIAC. Jeremiah Rice sits 13th in the long jump and 10th in the triple jump with Sam McCain ninth in the triple jump. Drew Beall is currently ranked sixth in the IIAC in the shot put following his heave of 15.00m (49'2.5") at Nebraska Wesleyan while Garrett Rohlk sits fifth in the weight throw after his school-record toss two weeks ago at Dordt.
Following this weekend's event, Buena Vista continues its indoor schedule on Saturday, February 3, at the Dakota Wesleyan Open at Mitchell, S.D., starting at 10:00 a.m.
